Debra Davis Hinkle graduated with a Bachelors of Science from CSU, Long Beach. She is an award winning, published author and usually writes about animals, bereavement, learning disabilities and her concern for child abuse. She is the leader of the Friday Night Writers’ Group, a critique group.
Her learning disabilities, child abuse and the death of her mother fuel her passion for writing—sharing her personal experiences in the hope of helping others. She has shared her stories and poems with hospice groups and retirement home residents. Her very personal stories and poems have helped her reflect on her experiences.
Her poems have been published in the Tribune, Women’s Press and her short stories have been published in Tales From the Corner, An Anthology and on the internet.
She and her writing partner, Jim Leonard, have complete a book on bereavement, called *”Tears To Laughter“. She and her partners, Jim Leonard and Christine Taylor, are in the development stage of a series of children’s books entitled “The Magic Cat Door:…” Debra wants to publish a child’s book based on her published skit “Why Didn’t Grandma Stop Him?”

I think you are limited by the type, the severity and your tenacity. I’m an auditory dyslexic. I also have dysgraphia and ADHD. However, I am one of the most tenacious and persistent people I know. If I want something, I go after it until it’s mine.
